William M. Trantow
53, Wausau, passed away Saturday April 15, 2006 at his home, following a battle with cancer.
He was born October 7, 1952, in Wausau, son of Mary (Muzynoski) Trantow, Wausau, and the late Merlin Trantow. On May 21, 1977, he married Mary Ann DeJong at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives.
After graduating from North Central Technical College, Bill worked at J.I. Case for eight years prior to his 23 year employment with the Wausau School District. His most recent position was head custodian at Wausau East High School.
Bill was a lifelong member of St. Michael Catholic Church. He loved the outdoors, especially spending time at the family hunting cabin. By far the greatest joy in Bill's life was his wife and three children. He was also an avid Packers and NASCAR fan.
Survivors besides his wife, Mary Ann Trantow and mother, Mary Trantow, include a daughter, Colleen Trantow, Wausau, two sons, Joel Trantow and Brian Trantow, both of Wausau, four sisters, Patricia (Paul) Hatlestad and Tammie Trantow, all of Wausau, Mary Romanowski, Schofield, Barbara (Glen) Block, Ringle; three brothers, Mike (Jane) Trantow, St. Louis, Missouri, Tom Trantow, Wausau and Ben (Gloria) Trantow, Antigo.
He was preceded in death by his father, Merlin Trantow and a brother, Randy Trantow.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Weds. April 19, 2006 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Weds. from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Sixth Street funeral home.
Pallbearers for the service will be Dave Schneck, Kurt Laffin, Duane Doering, Joe Stoklasa, Phil Weber and Marty Dumask.
The family would like to thank Dr. Christopher Peterson and all the staff who cared for Bill at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation to all of Bill's family, friends and coworkers, who helped them during his illness.
