Thomas S. Mader, 71, Marathon, died Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born June 4, 1950, in Marshfield, son of Joan (Brickheimer) Mader and the late Steven Mader. On August 24, 1974, he married Nancy Miller.
Tom worked in construction and later as a truck driver for County Materials. He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Andrew J. Sutter Post No. 8527, Athens, where he was Quartermaster for many years. He enjoyed putting together puzzles, attending car shows, watching Westerns and reading especially cowboy books. He also enjoyed NASCAR and cheering on the Packers, Brewers, and Bucks. Most of all he loved time spent with his family and seven granddaughters.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Mader; children, Carrie (Nathaniel) Klitsberg and Justin (Hollie) Mader; granddaughters, Madeleine, Emelia, and Willow Klitsberg, Ella, Kiley, Olivia and Brynne Mader; his mother, Joan Mader; sister, Barb (Dan) Reid and brother, Gary (Darcy) Mader.
He was preceded in death by his father.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services, all at the church.
