Phimmanou "Joi" Opboune
29, Menominee, died Saturday, December 6, 2008 in a fatal traffic accident near Roseville, MN.
He was born July 4, 1979 (legally June 3, 1979) in Thailand, son of Phou Opboune, and the late Nheune Thammbangvong. He was a 1997 of graduate of Wausau East High School, and a 2006 graduate of NorthCentral Technical College where he earned his associates degree. He was attending UW Stout in Menominee with a semester away from graduating with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. He was dedicated to his studies and proud to be on the National Dean's List during his time at UW Stout.
Among his many interests were photography, fishing, dancing, cooking, and being a part of school organizations. With his good sense of humor, and infectious laugh, Joi could always lift a friend in need. He gave so much too so many in the form of unconditional acceptance and friendship.
Survivors include his mother, Phou Opboune, Wausau; sister, Phetdara (Yo Chandavong) Pahl, Wausau; brothers, Vong (Nicka) Thammabovong, Wausau; Trevor Thammabovong, France; Samath (Carmin) Sok, Appleton; two nieces, Ciara and Tiara and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Nheune and both paternal and maternal grandparents.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home at 1302 6th Street, Wausau, WI 54401. Friends and family are invited to the pre-service visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Wausau is in charge of arrangements and online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com
