Martha B. Stencil, 79, town of Rib Falls, went to her eternal rest Monday, June 16, 2003 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.
She was born September 13, 1923, in the town of Rietbrock, daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Latwin) Jagodzinski. On June 17, 1942 she married Theodore Stencil, Sr., at St. John Catholic Church, Wuertzburg. He survives.
Martha attended grade school at the Silver Arrow School located in the town of Rietbrock. At age 14 she received a guitar from her parents and started singing with her sister Irene at local dance halls with a group known as The Radio Roundup. Martha worked at Marathon Electric for 24 years retiring in 1986. She enjoyed her garden, especially raising raspberries and flowers. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Martha's door was always open to welcome visitors any time of the day. She was always ready for a good game of sheepshead and if anyone stopped by at lunch or suppertime, a plate was set for them to join the family. Holidays were special events for Martha, as family and friends would always get together.
Survivors besides her husband Theodore Stencil, Sr, Marathon; include a son Theodore (Kathlyn) Stencil, Wausau; daughter Faye (Robert) Hale, Wausau; four grandchildren, Jeff (Lisa) Stencil, Belton, Tex., Lisa (Corey) Gabriel, Glendale, Chris Hale, Green Bay, Lori Hale, Middleton, Fla.; three great grandchildren, Alex Gabriel, Sabrina Hale, Daniel Hale; four sisters, Irene Cichon, Dorothy (William) Artus, Dolores (Melvin) Krueger, all of Wausau, Leona Braun, Albuquerque, NM; and a brother Andrew (Rose) Jagodzinski, Athens. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law Alvin Cihon, William Braun, and a great grandson Michael Hale.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 am Friday June 20, 2003, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service Thursday 7:00p.m. at the funeral home.
