Marie M. Sprenger, 82, 104 Jensen Street, Athens, died Saturday, August 17, 2002 at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield.
Marie was born October 12, 1919, in the town of Rietbrock, daughter of the late Max and Barbara (Hart) Switlick. She married William E. Sprenger at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens on October 27, 1936. He preceded her in death October 9, 1996.
Marie was a homemaker. She was a member of the Rietbrock Homemakers, St. Anthony Catholic Church Choir, National Catholic Society of Foresters and the Catholic Knights Insurance Fraternity. She also volunteered for the Marathon Co. Nutrition Program and enjoyed doll collecting, sewing, gardening and spending time at family events and gatherings.
She is survived by two children, Patricia "Trish" Seubert, Butternut, William (Francine) Sprenger, Marathon; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; two brothers, Anthony Switlick, Omro, John (Agnes) Switlick, Wausau; one sister, Ann (James) Millett, Florida.
Besides her husband, William, and her parents, she is preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Kaye Becker and Geraldine Murkowski; one granddaughter, Carrie Jean Becker, one sister, Theresa Raczek and three brothers, Stanley, James, and Vincent Switlick.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. The Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday, from 4-8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and again on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of services at the church. There will be a rosary service Tuesday evening at the Athens funeral home.
