Margaret Esther Dettmering, 86, Wausau, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at St. Claire's Hospital, Weston.
She was born December 11, 1920 in Merrill, daughter of the late Richard and Alice (Meyer) Hackbarth. On August 2, 1940 she married Raymond Dettmering. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2002.
Margaret was a stay at home mom, selling Stanley products to family and friends. Each summer she looked forward to spending time at the cottage in Phillips and playing card games with her lake neighbor Sharon as well as watching birds and reading. She enjoyed attending her granddaughter Nicole's local gymnastic meets as well as reading about the out of town events. The love of her life was seeing her great-grandchildren. She was a faithful Wednesday morning Bible Study attendee at Trinity Church, thanks to Trudy. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother/mother-in-law and of course, a great bread baker using the bread machine.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Judy Dettmering, Machesney Park, Illinois; two sons, Dennis (Mary K.) Dettmering, Deerbrook, Wisconsin and Gary (Mary M.) Dettmering, Rothschild, Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Todd (Janet) Dettmering, Rockford, Illinois; Tammy (Kerry) Lenort, Madelia, Minnesota; and Nicole Dettmering, Rothschild, Wisconsin; three great-grandchildren, Kasey Lenort, Caleb Lenort, and Jazlyn Lenort of Madelia, Minnesota; a brother-in-law, George (Sylvia) Dettmering, Merrill; two sister-in-laws, Irene Rasmussen, Rhinelander, Wisconsin and Elaine (Herbert) Kufahl, Merrill, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by a son Gene, three brothers, Ed, Clarence, and Wally Hackbarth; two sisters, Florence Goodnow and Eleanore Hoeft, and a great-grandchild Timmy Dettmering.
