Leonard J. Lechleitner

Leonard Joseph Lechleitner passed away September 6, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield, WI. He was born November 24, 1932 in Jump River of Taylor County to the late Charles and Opal (Boardman) Lechleitner. On July 24, 1954 he married Shirley Day at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Donald, Wisconsin. She preceded him in death on April 26, 2011. After their marriage they made their first home in Merrill, WI before moving to a farm in the Marathon County township of Rietbrock in 1966. He worked as an A.I. technician for 21st Century Genetics for 38 years. Leonard and his wife, Shirley, also operated the Snack Shack Restaurant on Highway 29 from 1975 until 2002. Leonard touched many lives. He genuinely cared for others and loved to engage them in conversation. Leonard also enjoyed polka music, dancing and spending winters in Texas. Survivors include his special friend, Margaret Robl, Edgar; daughters, Colleen (Roger) Johnson, Eau Claire and Lynn Lechleitner, Edgar and sons, Greg (Brenda), Suring and Gary (Connie), Edgar; ten grandchildren: Ryan (Julie) Johnson and Yasmin (Ben) Turner, Jett and Eann Shepro, Cody and Trent Lechleitner, Kelby, Cedric, Kia and Xavier Lechleitner; three great-grandchildren: Evan Johnson, Brecken and Miles Turner. He is further survived by siblings, Dolores "Sis" Olynick, Holcombe, Alvin (Marcia) Lechleitner, Eau Claire and Marilyn (Tim) Corpe, Big Lake, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Billy (Priscilla) Day, Hannibal and sister-in law Deana Hoffman, Sun City, Arizona and many other relatives and friends. Besides his parents and wife, Shirley, he was preceded in death by brothers, Albert, Clarence and Donald and brothers-in-law, Elwood Hoffman and John Olynick. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. Rev. Robert Streveler will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
