Kenneth H. Tornow
78, Rib Mountain, died peacefully, Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at his home.
He was born January 28, 1930, son of the late David and Olive (Winegarden) Tornow. On January 28, 1953, he married Betty Fraaza at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Wausau. She survives.
Ken was a Korean Conflict veteran and his duties stations included, White Sands, New Mexico proving grounds on the missile testing range and rocket research and development at Bell Laboratories in New Jersey. He was the co-owner of the former Tornow's IGA Supermarket, Rib Mountain.
Survivors include, his wife, Betty Tornow, Rib Mountain; three children, Debby (Tom) Miller, Huntsville, Tex., Keven (Beth) Tornow and Carla (Lyonel) Wisnewski, all of Wausau; seven grandchildren, Eric and Travis Miller, Dusten (Kirsten) Tornow, Nicole (fiance Isaac Pagel) Tornow, Miranda Day (special friend Nick Babl), Kimberly (Ben) Hoenisch and Anthony Wisnewski; two great grandchildren, Jacob and Jerry; four sisters, Joyce Huntington, Wausau, Ardyce Norton, Birnamwood, Dorothy (Ron) Anderson, Durango, Colo. and Inez (Richard) Berghoffer, Milwaukee; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Bruce Tornow; one sister, Arlene Tornow; and two brothers, Dorvin and Truman.
Private family services were held.
