Julianna B. Gruszecki
86, formerly of Chicago, died Friday June 9, 2006 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born May 17, 1920, in Chicago, daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline (Waligora) Smagon. On February 1, 1947, she married Joseph Gruszecki in Chicago. He preceded her in death in 1973.
Prior to her retirement, Julianna had been employed at Bally's and Chicago Dynamic. Among her many interests, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and bowling and playing Bingo. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to visit family and friends. While living in Chicago, she was a member of the Rosary Society of St. Josaphat Catholic Church, the Sacred Heart Society of Women, the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America and was also a member of the Gorden Tech High School Mother's Club.
Survivors include a son, Dennis (Irene) Gruszecki, Marathon, a daughter-in-law, Kathy Gruszecki, Spring Grove, Ill., two grandchildren, Alex and Laura and nieces and nephews in several states.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, a son, Kenneth, three brothers, Henry, Fred and Frank Smagon, four sisters, Antoinette Smagon, Mary Faifarek, Ann Kumery and Sister Angela Smagon.
Funeral Services will be Weds. at St. Josaphat Catholic Church, Chicago. Burial will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon.
