John V. Rauman

John V. Rauman 84, Wausau, died Sunday, September 4, 2005 at Kennedy Park Medical & Rehabilitation Center, Weston. He was born January 10, 1921 in De Kalb, Ill., son of the late John and Maria (Silfvast) Rauman. On September 20, 1947, he married Grace Strobach in Medford. She preceded him in death on July 6, 1996. John was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II serving in the Philippines, Japan and Australia. He was a postal worker retiring on January 16, 1981. Among his favorite things to do were fishing, woodworking, golfing and playing horseshoes and he was an avid sport fan. Survivors include three sons, James (Susan) Rauman, Middleton, John (Amy) Rauman, Wausau and Larry (Bonnie) Rauman, Waterman, Ill; six grandchildren, Jerry (Cathy) Rauman, Jace Rauman, Robyn, Seth, Tate and Emma Rauman; one great grandson, Justin Rauman; one sister, Betty Johnson, De Kalb, Ill; two brothers, Eino (Becky) Rauman, Quincy, Ill and Robert (Beverly) Rauman, Elwood, Ill. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Slayton, Martha Rauman, infant sister, Allie Marie Rauman and two brothers, Toivo and Richard Rauman. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2005 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Rev. Roger Smith will officiate. Friends may call from Noon Friday until the time of services at Stewart Avenue funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may directed to the Red Cross Katrina Hurricane Relief Fund.
