Jean K. Sturm

Jean Kathryn Sturm, 89, Wausau, died Saturday January 4, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born October 31, 1924, in Wausau, daughter of the late Henry and Ida (Seefeldt) Schaupp. On September 21, 1946, she married Donald J. Sturm at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death December 2, 2006. Jean had been employed for several years as an administrative assistant at Graphic Services. Among her favorite pastimes were flower gardening, yard work and she was also an avid reader. While raising their family, the Sturms enjoyed camping and traveling and after retirement, Jean and Don continued to travel. Jean was an active member of several organizations, among her involvements she served as past president of the Catholic Women's Club, secretary of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and president of the Wausau Deanery Council. Above all, she enjoyed the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include three children, Linda Burger, Redmond, Ore., Jeffrey (Donna) Sturm, Helena, Mont., Tom (Susan) Sturm, Shawano, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one brother, Robert (Joan) Schaupp, DePere, a special cousin, Win Spencer, Wausau, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday January 9, 2014 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services or Newman High School. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, is in charge of arrangements.
