Irene A. Stubinski
83, formerly of Marathon, died Thursday, July 30, 2009 under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice, Wausau.
She was born February 3, 1926 in Chicago, daughter of the late Anthony and Anna Jerz. On February 19, 1944 she married John Sondelski in Chicago. He preceded her in death on January 15, 1981. On February 20, 1987 she married Frank Stubinski in Knowlton. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2007.
Irene was a homemaker and had been a cook at the former Antlers Supper Club, Knowlton. She enjoyed taking care of her family and was a volunteer at both St. Francis Catholic Church, Knowlton and St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon.
Survivors include her five children, Christine (John) Kopp, Hawkins, Raymond (Tammy) Sondelski, Mosinee, Bernadette Peterson, Marshfield, Diane (Michael) Lytle, Morgantown, Ind. and Debra Kish, Carmel, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Sherry (Steve) Granberg, Sheila (Jeff) Lazar, John (Christi) Kopp, Nicholas (Tanya) Sondelski, Lucas Sondelski, Lindsay Sondelski and Jessica Peterson; nine great grandchildren, Maggie, Dusty, Sabrena, Frank, Hunter, Johanna, Chase, Kamella and Macy; one sister, Wanda Soehlke, Chicago.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, John and Frank and a half brother.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2009 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Knowlton. Friends may call Sunday from 3 - 7 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
