Gary J. Loiz, 75, Wausau, died Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.
He was born August 31, 1945 in Wausau, son of the late Joseph and Ruth (Schmidt) Loiz.
He graduated from Wausau High School and received an Electronic Technician degree from NTC.
Prior to retirement, Gary worked for many Country Clubs in the surrounding area as a head chef. After woking at different jobs in manufacturing, he enjoyed the last few years at Schuette Metals.
Gary or “Grandpa Dietz” as he was known by his family, loved his hobbies (too many to list) and was an avid lover of the piano. He was proud to learn to memorize a nine page Chopin Nocturne in his adult life. He was also very fond of his cats or as he called them his “little guys”.
Grandpa Dietz is survived by his sons, Julian “Jae” (Gwen) Loiz and Jamie (Debbie) Loiz; his grandchildren, Jill “Dietz” Loiz, Ashley “AA” (Matt) Van Den Heuvel, Jesse, Adysen and Skyler Loiz; one great-granddaughter, Kim Van Den Heuvel; and his sister, JoAnn (Morgan) Wright. Morgan has been a great brother-in-law and friend to Gary. Gary is further survived by his nephew, Nicky Johnson and his lifetime friend, Frank. Gary spent many hours with Frank discussing life and going to local events together.
Besides his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Nina and Bill Johnson.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com
