Florence C. Schneider

Florence C. Schneider, 92, died Wednesday, November 4, 2020 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Applegate Terrace, Wausau.

She was born February 29, 1928 in Chicago, IL, daughter of the late Emil and Florence (Hagedorn) Gruener.  On May 28, 1949 she married Paul Schneider at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, Chicago.  They raised their family together in Mundelein, Illinois before moving to Wisconsin.  They were married for 70 years.  Paul preceded her in death on January 4, 2020.

Florence was a woman of devout faith and member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau.  Her family was her love and she and Paul devoted their life caring for their special needs son, Gerry, up until the end of last year.  She enjoyed decorating for the holidays, gardening, knitting, needlework and traveling with their camper around the United States.

Survivors include her five sons, Jim (Vicky) Schneider, Tomahawk, Robert (Laura) Schneider, Blue Island, IL, Gerald Schneider, Wisconsin Rapids, Joseph (Iany) Schneider, Leesburg, VA and Thomas (Elaine) Schneider, Wausau; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marie Sesterhenn, Lincolnshire, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Paul, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Gruener and a sister-in-law, Katherine “Kay” Kurowski.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at a later date.
