Charles M. Johnson, 74, died peacefully in his sleep with Carolyn by his side, Thursday, May 7, 2015 under the care of AsceraCare Hospice at his home.
He was born September 27, 1940 in Dekalb, Illinois, son of the late Merle and Mary (Hazzard) Johnson. On August 5, 1961 he married Carolyn Fuller in Waterman, Illinois. She survives.
Charles worked as Manager of Manufacturing Engineering at Regal Beloit, formerly Marathon Electric. Prior to coming to Wausau Charles was employed at General Electric Company in DeKalb, Illinois for 15 years. Chuck is a proud graduate of Northern Illinois University. After retirement he joined the Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed model trains, golfing, collecting rocks and watching John Wayne movies. He loved music, especially country western and enjoyed dancing with his wife, Carolyn. Above all he cherished time spent with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn, Wausau; children, Michael (finance Terri Herek) Johnson, Wausau, Christine (Jay) Wickeham, Waconia, Minn., and Matthew (Gretchen) Johnson, Chippewa Falls; grandchildren: Alexander, Samuel, Christina, Benjamin, Bryce, Ayden and Sarah.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2015 at Saint Andrew Lutheran Church, Rib Mountain. Rev. Craig Swenson will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
