Cecilia Marten Obituary

Cecilia (Jean) Marten, 84, died Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Wausau Manor.

She was born July 2, 1936 in Wausau, daughter of the late Alois “Alex” and Josephine (Sowinski) Check. On March 10, 1956 she married Roger Marten at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on June 21, 2008.

Cecelia was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, Bingo, puzzles, lottery tickets, puzzle books, watching the Packers and trips to the casino. She loved spending time with her family, children, and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Rick Marten, Bonnie (Mel) Sims, Gordon (Deb) Marten, Susan (Ed) Grabow and Steven (Carla) Marten, and daughters-in-law Carol and Lori, 28 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren plus one expected this spring; 2 great great-grandchildren; siblings, Lorraine Dallman, Florence Wesenick and Joan (Gary) Radtke; close family friends, Linda, Patsy and Fran.

Besides her parents and husband, Roger, she was preceded in death by sons, Kenneth and Christopher and a grandson, Joseph Marten.

Private family services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Cecelia’s name.
