Zdenka M. Beran

Zdenka M. Beran 89, 5228 Woods Road, Athens, died Monday, May 19, 2003 at Colonial House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Colby. She was born August 20, 1913 in the town of Johnson, daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Herout) Beran. Zdenka graduated from the University of Wisconsin with Bachelors of Arts degree in Elementary Education and she received her Masters from the University of Wisconsin in Superior. Zdenka taught in Marathon County and Medford until the time of her retirement. She was a member of the Taylor County Retired Teachers Association and former member of the Professional Business Women's Association. She enjoyed traveling and playing cards. Survivors include one sister, Martha Blanke, Marshfield and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Agnes Poch, Vlasta Marquardt and Helen Outzen; two brothers, Ladislau and Frank Beran. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2003 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens. Rev. Roger Moldenhauer will officiate. Burial will be in the town of Johnson Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and again from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of services, all at the Athens funeral home.
