Yoshiye Kanemoto, 82 Dana Point, Calif., died Thursday, October 16, 2003. Minoru Kanemoto, 88, Dana Point, Calif., died Friday, October 17, 2003.
Yoshiye was born June 8, 1921 in Phoenix, Ariz, daughter of the late Empachi and Ayano (Harada) Noda. Minoru was born May 11, 1915 in Watsonville, Calif., son of the late Gorokichi and Matsu (Kimura) Kanemoto.
Yoshiye Noda and Minoru Kanemoto were interned in a Japanese relocation center at Gila Rivers, Ariz., during WW II. On February 17, 1943, they were united in marriage at the relocation center.
After WW II, Yoshiye and Minoru moved to Seabrook, N.J. where they both worked for Seabrook Farms, a major frozen food manufacturer. In 1959 they moved to Los Angeles, Calif. where Yoshiye worked at Gilfillan Electronics and Minoru worked for United Cold Storage. After retirement, Minoru was an avid gardner and Yoshiye loved to read. In 1989 they moved to Dana Point, Calif., where they resided until their deaths.
Survivors include two children, Henry (Bonnie) Kanemoto, Rothschild, Wis., and Barbara (Richard) Hirschman, Henderson, Nev.; four grandchildren, Michael (Wendy) Kanemoto, Lawrence, Kans., Daniel Kanemoto, New York, N.Y., Jason (Cagla) Hirschman, Henderson, Nev., and Carolyn Hirschman, Henderson, Nev.; and one great-grandchild, Ebin Hirschman, Henderson, Nev.
Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2003 at Newport Beach Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple, Costa Mesa, Calif. Rev. Kenjun Kawawata will officiate. Interment will be in the Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, California.
