Ying Thao

Ying X. Thao, 81, Wausau, died Monday, July 24, 2017 at her daughter's home in Birnamwood. She was born June 18, 1936 in Laos, daughter of the late Song Pao Xiong and Cheng Yang. Ying and her husband, Sa Sai Thao moved to the Central Wisconsin area back in 1976 and were the second Hmong family to settle in this area. Survivors include, her husband, Sa Sai Thao; eight children, Mee (Song) Her, Nou Vang (Eileen) Thao, Chong Soua (May) Thao, Youa (Ria) Moua, Zar Thao, Cher Kou (Aong) Thao, Ly (Wang Lu) Lor and Kao (Yia) Thao; 46 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Ntxhais Thao and Pao Thao. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 12th from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. and again on Sunday, August 13th from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Monday at 8:00 a.m. with burial to follow at the Friedenshain Cemetery, town of Berlin, Wis.
