Wyman J. Ruplinger

Wyman "Rookie" J. Ruplinger 87, Marathon, died Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Ministry Saint Clare's Hospital, Weston. He was born February 26, 1925 in Marathon, son of the late Roman and Mildred (Hornung) Ruplinger. On September 3, 1949, he married Isabelle Ziegel at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. She survives. Wyman was a veteran of the United States Army and served for three years during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Alois Dreikosen Post No. 469, Marathon, was past Commander, active in the Honor Guard and was the Legion Historian for many years. Wyman worked for the former James River Corp. in Wausau for 36 years until retirement in May of 1987. For many years, Wyman was active with several Marathon Fun Days committee's and further enjoyed cutting fire wood and being outdoors. Survivors include, his wife, Isabelle Ruplinger, Marathon; four children, Gary (Connie) Ruplinger, Marathon, Guy (Susan) Ruplinger, Wausau, Dean (Jini) Ruplinger, Wausau and Edee (Timothy) Zuleger, Marathon; seven grandchildren, Jenese (Brian) Karlen, Justin (Jenny) Ruplinger, Jessica Ruplinger, Daniel Ruplinger, Bennett Ruplinger, Jordan Ruplinger and Leah Zuleger; four great grandchildren, Bailey, Breanne, Dax and Laken; one brother, Ivan (Janice) Ruplinger, Marathon; one sister, Jean Ruplinger; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Lavern Ruplinger. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery with full military honors conducted by the American Legion. Friends may call Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. There will be a service conducted by the American Legion at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon or American Legion Alois Dreikosen Post No. 469, Marathon. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com
