Winifred E. Nolan

Winifred "Winnie" E. Nolan 89, Wausau, died Saturday October 6, 2012 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born July 27, 1923 in Shoreditch, London, daughter of the late James and Rebecca (Jonas) Trowers. On September 6, 1944, she married James T. Nolan at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Braintree, England. He preceded her in death on July 31, 1991. Winifred worked as a housekeeper and cook for St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Bronx, New York and also worked as a nursing assistant at North Central Health Care Facilities in Wausau. Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, refinishing furniture and making crafts with her niece, Jean. Winifred was a member of the Commission on Aging. Survivors include, four children, Winifred (John) Earl, Eagle Point, Ore., James (Loretta) Nolan, Merrill, Dorothy Nolan, Tomahawk and Michael (Annette) Nolan, Middlebury, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Christine (Patrick) McNulty, David (Stephani) Jones, Joseph (Kim) Nolan, Matthew Nolan, Ashley Nolan, Adam (Sara) Nolan and Joe Hilber; seven great grandchildren, Kathryn, Keani, Ben, Kaleb, Makayla, Izabella and Mikel; three brothers, Tommy, Reggie and Freddy Trowers, all of London; her niece, Jean (Pete) Hoff, Wausau; two great nieces, Tania and Tammy Hoff; and two great great nieces, Elizabeth and Karinna Bloch. Besides her parents and husband, James, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Rose, Ivy, Lilly and Elsie; and one brother, Jimmy. Funeral services will be at Noon on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Friends may call on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until services at the funeral home. Burial will be on Thursday at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
