William "Bill" Zastrow Jr.,
78, 1507 E. Wausau Avenue., Wausau died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at his home.
He was born November 20, 1926 in Wausau, son of the late William N. and Alvina (Klabunde) Zastrow. Bill married Elnore Juedes in Wausau on July 21, 1948. She survives.
Bill retired from Marmet Corp. after 40 plus years of employment. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and spending time up north at the cottage. Bill had a great love for the outdoors and he enjoyed feeding the birds and animals where ever he was. Always eager to try his luck Bill never said no to an invitation to go to the casino with friends or relatives. He anxiously waited for the arrival of spring to see how his fruit trees would bear. Above all things Bill will always be remembered for his great sense of humor.
Bill served his country in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Neshoba during World War II.
Survivors besides his wife Elnore, Wausau, include his children, Karen Pergolski, Weston, Diane (Russ) Reinicke, Harshaw, Debbie (Russ) Wadzinski, Tomahawk, Barry (Sue) Zastrow, Wausau, Luann (Ralph) Sliwicki, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Allen (Lisa) Zastrow, Wausau, fifteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three sisters, Viola Fogarty, Wayne, Michigan, Valeria Raduechel, Wausau, Delores Gutknecht, Athens, one brother, Raymond (Jean) Zastrow, Weston and one sister-in-law, Virginia Zastrow, Wausau, along with many nieces and nephews. Bill is further survived by many special friends and his neighborhood pranksters; Stub and George.
Besides his parents Bill was preceded in death by an infant son, William III, three brothers, Fred, George and Bernard Zastrow and an infant sister, Elveria.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2005 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau. Rev. Stephen Russell will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the Sixth Street funeral home.
