William "Chippy" Riehle
75, 412 E. Townline Road, Athens, died Friday, September 10, 2004 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born January 16, 1929 in Athens, son of the late Ben and Mildred (Jacobitz) Riehle.
William was a life long dairy farmer in Athens. He enjoyed hunting, fishing; especially trips to Canada, antique steam shows and NASCAR races. He truly enjoyed the company at the Athens CafAC. and was proud to be a member of the Athens community. William also plowed snow for the town of Halsey for over 30 years. Special to William was cooking meals for the hunters at deer camp.
Survivors include six sisters and three brothers, Marian Becker, Newton, N.J., Bernadine Johnson, Aurora, Colo., Geraldine (William) Murphy, Rockville, MD, Frances Czech, Wausau, Florence (Philip) Windorski, Schofield, Celia Riehle, Athens, James (Belle) Riehle, Wausau, Bernard Riehle, Wausau, Kenneth (Sue) Riehle, Athens, along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, William was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Riehle.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 16, 2004 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. The Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Athens funeral home.
