William "Bill" Knudsen, 80, Wausau, died Thursday, January 23, 2003, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.
Bill was born March 27, 1922 in Wausau, son of the late John and Anna (Anderson) Knudsen Sr. He married Rosemary Schulz on June 28, 1958 at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. She survives.
Bill was a machine operator for Wisconsin Box Company. He had also worked for Marathon Box, Marathon Battery and Pine Grove Cemetery. Bill was proud to have been a member of the U.S. National Guard. He was known for knitting awesome stocking caps. Bill also enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers and Wausau Woodchucks.
Besides his wife Rosemary, Wausau, he is survived by one son, Ken (Laurel Andreas) Knudsen, Merrill; two grandsons, Jason Knudsen, Tyler Knudsen; one honorary granddaughter, Mickayla Andreas; one sister, Mildred Russ, Milwaukee; his niece Sharon (Wayne) Thompson, Wausau.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathryn; and eight brothers and sisters.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 27, 2003 at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. The Rev. Barnabas Kyeah will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Sunday from 1 - 4 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Church of St. Anne, Wausau for memorial masses in Bill's name.
