William Ervin Borth, 86, a former Wausau resident, died Thursday October 11, 2001, at St. Therese Home, New Hope, Minn.
William was born June 2, 1915, in Wausau, son of the late William and Augusta (Krueger) Borth. On June 5, 1948, he married Eva Schultz at Salem Lutheran Church, Wausau. She preceded him in death on July 11, 1999.
He had been employed for over 41 years with the former American Can, Wausau, prior to his retirement and was a member of their Quarter Century Club. Affectionately known as 'Blue Gill Bill' he enjoyed the out of doors, fishing, hunting, watching wildlife and nature. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Survivors include a son, David (Denise) Borth, Walker, Minn.; daughter Diane (Dan) Stauner, Minneapolis, Minn.; three grandchildren, Melissa and Tiffany Borth, and Nicholaus Stauner. Besides his parentsand wife Eva, he was preceded in death by one brother Arthur Borth and three sisters, Margaret Seidler, Elsa Seidler and Olga Luedtke.
Funeral services will be 11:00am, Tuesday, October 16, 2001, at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wausau. The Rev. Roy Hoenecke will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Monday from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again Tuesday from 10:00am until the time of services at the church.
