It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of William Cerny Jr., 51, on Sunday, March 30, 2008 at his home. Son of William V. (JoAnne) Cerny Sr., Wausau and Sally (Gene) Ward, Mason City, IA. He was a graduate of Wausau East high school.
Bill, fondly known as "Billy" enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and spent quality time with family and friends while on salmon fishing trips, and trips to Canada and Northern Wisconsin. He would often be heard saying, "I'm heading up north". Bill also enjoyed many years of hunting and was always on the look out for that "big buck". He usually had a story to tell after spending a weekend up north with his longtime friends. He loved to travel to Virginia Beach, VA. in summers with his extended family. His family has fond memories of him relaxing underneath his umbrella in his beach chair. In summer you could see Bill going for walks in his neighborhood and he was looking forward to bike rides on his new mountain bike. He also had a new passion for landscaping and took pride in developing the yard around his home with the assistance of family and friends.
Bill loved his work as a realtor for Keller Williams and took pride in finding just the right homes for his clients. It was well known that you could call on Bill anytime if you had a question that needed a quick answer. He was always willing to provide assistance in any way he could. He was a member at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schofield and enjoyed participating in a morning Bible study. He was known for his gentle spirit and always took the time to be a great listener. Bill was truly invested in the lives of his family and friends through his generosity and love. "Dollar Dad" was always willing to put his two daughters first and encouraged them continually. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandson, who brought out his youthfulness and kept a smile on his face. He was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, grandpa, and friend. His memory will last forever and he will be dearly missed by all those who knew him and were blessed by his life.
Survivors include his parents, William V. (JoAnne) Cerny Sr., Wausau and Sally (Gene) Ward, Mason City, Iowa, his children, Jessica (Kenneth) Bloom, Wausau and Rachel (David) Griffin, Lombard, Illinois, one grandson, Gavin Bloom, his siblings, Laura (James) Lalor, Mason City, Iowa, Stafford (Linda) Cerny, Wausau and Paul (Sarah) Kaler, St. Louis, Missouri.
