Willard A. Block, 91, Wausau, died Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born October 8, 1923 in the Town of Maine, son of the late Fred and Viola (Krueger) Block. On June 11, 1949, he married Ardell Woller in the Town of Berlin. She preceded him in death on August 28, 1986.
Willard worked at Prehn Quarry from 1949 until 1960. He then farmed in the town of Hamburg until September of 1983, when he sold the farm to Phil and Brenda Hoffman who became part of Willard's extended family. Phil and Brenda considered Willard a father right up to his death. While he was farming, Willard also worked for Marco Farmer Union and Laabs Dairy. He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wausau.
Survivors include, one sister, Adeline Davila, El Paso, Texas; two grandchildren, Nicole Swanson, Idaho and Kenneth Block, Nevada; three great-grandchildren; and good friend, Ella Kufahl and her entire family who also became Willard's extended family. Willard and Ellie were inseparable the last 15 years of Willard's life, traveling, camping and getting together with family and friends.
Besides his parents and wife, Ardell, he was preceded in death by his son and only child, Dale; his daughter-in-law, Shirley; and two sisters, Hertha Woller and Viola Scheinoha.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Restlawn Memorial Park Chapel. Rev. Gary Schultz will officiate. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
