Wilfred C. Kage 82, 3005 N. 120th Ave, Wausau., died Thursday, May 18, 2006 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at North Central Health Care Center, Wausau. He was born November 11, 1923 in Athens, son of the late Henry and Clara (Riehle) Kage. On April 17, 1948 he married Mary Ann Bramm at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Milwaukee. She survives. Prior to moving back to Marathon in 1967, Wilfred was employed as a carpenter in Milwaukee for many years. He later became a ginseng farmer until his retirement. Wilfred was also a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388, Wausau. Wilfred proudly served his country as a mechanic in the Army Air Corps, during WWII in the European Theatre. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Kage, Wausau, one daughter, Colette (Marty) Krahn, Wausau, three sons, Doug (Jean) Kage, Pat (Brenda) Kage, Shawn (Shelley) Kage, all of Marathon, nine grandchildren, Chris, Jenny and Ben Krahn, Ryan and Craig Kage, Christian and Nicole Kage, and Jared and Jessica Kage, one brother, Raymond (Florence) Kage, Wausau, and one sister, Amella Bielke, Wausau. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Leroy, Harold and Herbert. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2006 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Marathon where full military rites will be conducted by the VFW Burns Post #388. Friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the Marathon funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Mary School or Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
