Wilbur W. Ninnemann, 78, Rib Mountain, died Monday January 28, 2002 at Willowbrook Assisted Living, Birnamwood.
He was born December 12, 1923 in the Town of Wausau, son of the late Charles F. and Margaret (Buth) Ninnemann. On September 7, 1947 he married Beatrice Long at First English Lutheran Church, Wausau. She survives.
Wilbur was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the Southern Pacific Theatre. He retired from James River Corporation after 33 years of service. Wilbur enjoyed trips up north, fishing, hunting, bowling and playing cards. He was a member of the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post No. 10 and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post No. 388, Wausau. At his church he was a member of the Retired Men's Breakfast, Friendly Neighbors and was an usher. He was a member of the Centurions of Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.
Survivors include his wife Beatrice, Rib Mountain; sons Dennis (Lyn) Ninnemann, Minneapolis, Minn., Duane (Mary Jo) Ninnemann, Aniwa; seven grandchildren, Hope, James (Big Jim), Ann, Nick, Samantha, Crystal, and James (Little Jim) Ninnemann. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Donald Ninnemann, brothers Lawrence and Milton Ninnemann and a sister Adeline Strassman.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 1, 2002 at First English Lutheran Church, Wausau. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, where full military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion and VFW. Friends may call Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church.
