Wilbert C. Hardt
80, 957 Greiner Road Athens died Sunday July 15, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield.
Wilbert was born March 21, 1921 in the Town of Halsey son of the late Louis and Clara (Besemann) Hardt. He married Mamie Neumann April 29, 1944 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. She survives.
Wilbert was a dairy farmer his whole life and also did masonry work with Herb Stargardt and Arlyn Stencil until his retirement in 1983.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing sheepshead with family and friends, and telling funny stories. Wilbert also enjoyed listening to polka music on Sunday mornings, going for long drives and singing.
Besides his wife, Mamie Hardt, Athens, Wilbert is survived by his children, Marlene (Ronald) Kremsreiter and Gerald Hardt, all of Athens, Joycelyn (Lynn) Shattuck, Curtiss, Rhonda (Daniel) Janda, Medford, Donald (Cindy) Hardt, Athens, 15 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 6 sisters.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday July 19, 2001 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. Rev. Donn Radde will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Wilbert's name is being established.
