Whitney R. Lindwall, 94, Wausau, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau, under the care of St. Croix Hospice. He was born on June 5, 1932 in Hinsdale, Illinois, the son of the late Ralph and Nanna (Swanson) Lindwall. He married Beatta “Bea” Allemann on March 17, 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church, Minneapolis.
Whitney was a Medical Specialist in the U.S. Army having completed Medical Field Service School Training at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX, and achieved the rank of First Lieutenant. He also served as Team Captain of the U.S. Army Pistol Team. After completing his doctorate in Food Science at the University of Minnesota he began his career in food science and product development holding key positions at Schweigert’s, General Mills and International Multifoods. His hobbies and interests were many, and included traveling, home remodeling, landscaping, gardening, collecting antiques, playing Bridge and Scrabble, and extensively studying our family’s genealogy.
Survivors include his wife, Bea, Wausau; one daughter, Karen (Theran) Rusch, Wausau; two grandsons, Matthew (Diana) Rusch, Papillion, NE, and David Rusch, Wausau; two great-grandsons, Finnigan and Liam, three great-granddaughters, Eliany, Diannelys, and Adielys, and his nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Laura Lee, and one sister, Carol Holm.
No public services will be held in accordance with Whitney’s wishes. Private burial will take place at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minnesota. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com
