Wayne D. Domres

Wayne D. Domres, 66, town of Bevent, died Friday, December 16, at Aspirus Hospital after complications with heart surgery. He was born November 24, 1950 to Marian (Hall) and Alvin Domres in Wausau. On June 10, 1972 he married Lanae Totsch. She survives. After graduating from NTC in auto mechanics, he worked for Cooper Motors (Stevens Point) as a mechanic and for Sentry Insurance as supervisor of the auto center. In 1995 he started his own business remodeling homes, which continued until he retired in 2015. As a boy Wayne loved to play with his toy trucks by building roads and digging holes. He also loved building things. In his high school Industrial Design class he designed a boathouse for the family cabin. He went on to build that boathouse in 1970, with the assistance of Lanae, convincing her to help him dig by hand into the sandy hillside at the lake. Wayne loved to spend time on the lake fishing. He went on to build two family homes, the first in Stevens Point and the current home in Rosholt. He loved his 71 wooded acres with its deer and other wildlife. As his boys grew they all learned to hunt, fish and fix almost anything. Every hunting season was a big event for Wayne and his family and friends. Wayne's 'big-boy toys' were a bulldozer and a loader-backhoe, which he used and repaired over many years. He could fix almost anything. He is survived by his wife Lanae, sons Nathan (Rosholt), Paul (Rosholt), and Todd (Stevens Point), and sister Lynn (Bruce) Buhmann (Wausau). He is also survived by his eight grand-dogs. Funeral services will be held at Noon, Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Wausau Alliance Church, 2125 Franklin Street, Wausau. The Rev. Greg Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
