Warren E. Prahl
87, town of Easton, died Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at his home, under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.
He was born March 24, 1921 in the town of Wausau, son of the late Henry and Ella (Beck) Prahl. On October 26, 1946, he married Ruth Banik at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau. She survives.
Warren was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country during World War II. For 26 years, he farmed in the town of Wausau and was a truck driver. Following retirement, Warren and his wife, Ruth, enjoyed their work with the Laborers with Christ, working on 20 different projects throughout the country for 10 years. Among his many interests, he enjoyed playing cards, hunting and was known by his family and friends to have the "Gift of Gab".
Survivors include, his wife, Ruth Prahl, town of Easton; seven children, Bob (Mary Jo) Prahl and Dick (Patsy) Prahl, both of town of Wausau, Randy (Debbie) Prahl, Berlin, Wis., Geri Luer, Key Largo, Fla., Joan (Harvey) Retzack, town of Omro, GiGi (Mark) Koenig, Schofield and Russ (Holly) Prahl, town of Easton; 22 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward (Jeanette) Prahl, Wausau; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Prahl; one granddaughter, Kendra Prahl; one sister, Marion Dittbrender; and two brothers, Willis and Henry Prahl.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 23, 2009 at St. John Lutheran Church, town of Easton. Rev. Timothy Coppersmith will officiate. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
