Wanda M. Zimmerman

Wanda M. Zimmerman 70, Marathon, died Monday, December 6, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born August 18, 1940, daughter of the late Albert and Bernadine (Michlig) Tesch. On June 27, 1959 she married Vilas Zimmerman. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2009. Prior to her retirement she worked at Weyerhauser Corporation in Rothschild. Through the years, Wanda loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. During these family times she enjoyed special activities which will be fondly remembered, such as, baking, especially her angel food cake on birthdays, cooking and preparing her famous Flapjacks, sewing P.J.'s, costumes and 'Blankies", playing board games, superheros, fancy tea parties, farm and matchbox cars. Each of these activities hold a special place in her children and grandchildren's hearts. She also enjoyed flower gardening and playing cards, especially Canasta and Sheepshead with her siblings and Kings Corners with her children. Wanda was a true girl right down to her nails and loved to spend time to make herself look good, especially doing her nails. Survivors include her seven children, Vilas Zimmerman Jr., Marathon, Craig Zimmerman, Phoenix, Ariz., Tammy Salber, Marathon, Rodney Zimmerman, Wausau, Connie (Mike) Sulzer, Rib Mountain, Patricia (Dennis) Hornung, Wausau and Colleen (Andrew) Reese, Wilmette, Ill.; eleven grandchildren, Jamie (Brent) Weiland, Melissa Zimmerman, Tonya Neuman, Timothy and Travis Salber, Kaile Zimmerman, Matthew Sulzer, Marc and Brad Hornung, Nora and Muriel Reese; three great-grandchildren, Audrianna Hackbarth, Sophia Neuman and Tucker Weiland; four siblings, Darlene Rothenberger, Marathon, Geneva (Tony) Marohl, Wausau, Renee (Tom) Thomsen, Mosinee and Randy (Sharon) Tesch, Wausau; sister-in-law, Celestine Tesch, Wausau; brother-in-law, Duaine Wilde, Mosinee. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vilas, one great granddaughter, Tessa, one brother, Terry Tesch and one sister, Barbie Wilde. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 10, 2010 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Marathon. Rev. Jon W. Hadler will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 4 - 7 p.m. and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon is in charge of arrangements.
