Walter A. Tylinski
93, 709 8th St., Marathon, died Thursday, July 26, 2001 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau.
He was born September 19, 1907 in Marathon, son of the late Michael and Eva (Kondzela) Tylinski. On June 18, 1934, he married Dorothy Martin at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. She survives.
Walter farmed for 46 years in the Town of Marathon before moving to Marathon in 1981. He was Town Weed Commissioner for 2 years, Town Assessor for 17 years, Town Supervisor for 6 years, drove snow plow and truck for the Town and had been employed for Menzer's Saw Mill, Marathon. Walter enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, visiting with friends and especially enjoyed playing cards.
Surviving besides his wife, Dorothy, Marathon, include 1 son, David (Alice) Tylinski, Marathon; 1 daughter, Virginia (George) Bruce, Tigard, OR; 8 grandchildren, Mark (Kim) Tylinski, Cheryl (Clark) Buttke, Michael (Rebecca) Tylinski and Troy Tylinski all of Marathon, Clay Tylinski, Appleton, Karl (Michelle) Bruce, Portland, OR, Kenneth (Carol) Bruce, Kelso, WA and Gretchen Bruce, Seattle, WA; 9 great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 brother, Stanley Tylinski and 3 sisters, Mary Wesolowski, Tina Pospyhalla and Hattie Pospyhalla.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2001 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier O.F.M. Cap. will preside. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Town of Cassel. Friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again from 10:00 a.m. Monday until the time of services at church. There will be a parish vigil service Sunday, 7:00 p.m., at the Marathon funeral home.
