Walter H. Maas

Walter "Wally" H. Maas, 90, died peacefully Friday, September 5, 2014 at Marathon Assisted Living Center under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. He was born August 7, 1924 in Merrill, son of the late Walter and Zoe Maas. On July 28, 1951, Wally married the love of his life, Ethel "Muffy" Patefield and she was always by his side for 61 years. Survivors include three children, Scott (Corey) Maas, Oakfield, Rob (Mary) Maas, Fond du Lac, and Marcy (Gene) Matushak, Wausau; special friend and second daughter Jeanne McGeoghgan, Appleton; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Besides his parents, Wally was preceded in death by his wife Muffy; one son, Michael; three brothers and one sister. Memorial Services will be 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Peterson Kraemer Funeral Home, 300 Walnut Street, Marathon. Rev. Gail Sowell will officiate.
