Walter R. Harder

Walter R. Harder 92, Belleville, Wis., a longtime resident of Wausau, died Tuesday August 5, 2008 under the care of Oakwood Village East in Madison. He was born November 28, 1915, in the town of Rib Falls, son of the late Henry and Hermine (Graebel) Harder. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vernette and daughter, Joyce Roth-Schultz. Walter worked for Hoffer Glass Company in Wausau for 53 years before retiring and moving to the Madison area. He was a member of St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in Belleville. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, canning, yardwork and a good game of cards. Survivors include two daughters, Beverly (John) Nitke, Henderson, Nev., Jeannine Krause, Belleville, three sons, William, Jerry and Thomas Harder, all of Wausau, 11 grandchildren, Lanny Harder, Colfax, Laurie (Brian) Rindfleisch, Mosinee, Lindy (Frank) Nieves, Kenosha, Brent (Kim) Harder, St. Paul, Minn., Leslie (Kevin) Keefe, Wausau, Chris Krause, Belleville, Steven (Julie) Nitke, Abilene, Tex., Jason (Leah) Nitke, Green Bay, Dana Nitke, Fla., Michael (Christina) Harder, Seattle, Wash., Nina Schultz, Madison, 12 great-grandchildren, Hillary, Cole, Caleb, Chelsea, Max. Kathryn, Nadeen, Sienna, Carter, Ashleigh, Riley, Ella, two sisters, June Kruger, Stevens Point, Jeanette (Wilbur) Pruess, Wisconsin Rapids. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Sylvia, Hilda, Eldora, Lucinda and brothers, Lester, Henry and Victor. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday August 8, 2008 at The Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
