Vivian M. Urmanski
88, Wausau died Wednesday, September 16, 2009 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Our House, Wausau.
She was born January 14, 1921 in Harrisburg, Illinois daughter of the late Raymond and Mildred (Payne) Alvey. On November 4, 1950 she married Edmund Urmanski at Holy Name Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on May 11, 2000.
Prior to her retirement Vivian was a nurse and a physical therapist. She worked as an industrial nurse at Scallin Steel Mill in St. Louis, Missouri during World War II. In Wausau she was a physical therapist at Memorial Hospital, St. Mary Hospital, Wausau Visiting Nurses and Marathon County Health Department. Vivian was also a volunteer for Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Some of Vivian's favorite pasttimes included quilting, sewing, ceramics and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Mitzi (Ronald) Pockat, Sayner, Marjorie (David) Olmsted and Mary Jo (Jerry) Literski, both of Wausau and Melisa (Ron) Polzin, Wisconsin Rapids and Mark Urmanski, Denver, Colorado, ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren, her siblings, Royal (Mary Lou) Alvey, Eldorado, Illinois, Ruth Ella (Lawrence) Hayden, Sandoval, Illinois and Barbara Farris, Ridgway, Illinois.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, John Ed Alvey.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2009 at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. The Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
