Vivian Smolke
88, formerly of Wausau, died Friday April 15, 2005 in Torrance California.
She was born January 23, 1917 in the town of Rock, Wood County, daughter of the late Hubert and Cecilia (Lenerz) Pulvermacher. On May 30, 1942, she married Lawrence Smolke in Bakerville. He preceded her in death January 10, 1985.
Lawrence and Vivian owned and operated a small dairy farm near Edgar from the time of their marriage until they retired and moved to Wausau. Vivian was a homemaker and had also been employed at Figi Cheese and the Marshfield shoe factory. She had been a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Smolke, Schofield, two sons, Dale (Janet) Smolke, Torrance, Calif., Roy (Virginia) Smolke, Rancho Palos Verde, Calif., five grandchildren, four sisters, Virginia (Paul) Guenther, Tempe, Ariz.; Annette (Gerald) Redmond, Pittsville; Joan (Roy) Holmann, Oakland, Calif.; Mary (Patrick) Kelly, Sunnyvale, Calif.; two brothers, Rev. Lucian Pulvermacher, Springday, Wash. and Rev. Carl Pulvermacher, Florida.
Besides her parents and husband, Vivian was preceded in death by two brothers, Rev. Claude Pulvermacher and Rev. Pius Pulvermacher.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Wuertzberg. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at the church.
There will be a parish vigil services at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.
