Vivian K. Ockenfels

Vivian K. Ockenfels 91, Wausau, Wis., formerly of Currie, Minn., died Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau. She was born February 26, 1920 in Currie, daughter of the late Hans and Camilla (Reiersen) Johnson. On June 23, 1941, she married Joseph Ockenfels in Currie. He preceded her in death in 1980. Vivian was a member of the St. Anne's Guild, Catholic Daughters, Altar Society and Rosary Society in Currie. Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed reading, taking walks and traveling with family and friends. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include, five children, Mary (Roger Holt) Diekmann, Pipestone, Minn., Joe Jr. (Maribelle) Ockenfels, Phoenix, Ariz., Jerry (Maria) Ockenfels, Minneapolis, Minn., Gene Ockenfels, Currie, Minn. and Joanne (Roy) Hatton, Weston, Wis.; 14 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Besides her parents and husband, Joseph, she was preceded in death by one son, Michael Ockenfels; one grandson, Steven Diekmann; and one brother, Vincent Johnson. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Currie, Minn. Rev. Jeffrey Dobbs will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
