Virginia (Ginny) Martin

June 20, 1926 — November 28, 2009

Virginia "Ginny" Martin 83, Wausau, passed away Saturday November 28, 2009 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital following a sudden stroke. She was born June 20, 1926, in Poniatowski, daughter of the late Lawrence and Lydia (Rauen) Bradfish. On June 15, 1948, she married Joseph "Bud" Martin at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. He preceded her in death November 2, 1992. Ginny was a dedicated wife and mother. A member of Holy Name Catholic Church for over 61 years, Ginny served her parish by doing the church linens and serving funeral meals. She enjoyed time with her family, gardening, cooking, embroidery, word search puzzles, romance novels and watching TV-land shows. Survivors include two sons, David J. (Kathy) Martin, and their son, Douglas J. of Wausau; Duane J. (Mary) Martin, and their children, Matthew J. and Aimee L. of Tomahawk; four daughters, Donna M. Martin of Danville, Ken., Diane M. (Randy) Gurholt and their sons, Joseph J. and Aaron M. of Wausau; Darlene M. Martin and Doris M. Martin, both of Wausau. She is further survived by her siblings, Helen Fair, Aurora, Ill., Gladys (Wayne) Gibberd, Wausau and Jerome (Pat) Bradfish, Harshaw. Surviving in-laws include, Teddy Rader, Gladys Martin, Ray Weichman, Jim Wiskowski, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Ginny was preceded in death by brothers and sisters-in-law, Arthur and Ida Martin, Mary and Walter Hall, Margie Rader, Aloys and Hazel Martin, John "Jack" Martin, Celeste Weichman and Roy Fair. She joyfully anticipated the day she would return to her God, her family and her friends with a clear mind and happy memories to share. With her passing we will all remember to be thankful for all we have. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. Thursday December 3, 2009 at The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. Rev. Gerald Pehler OFM Cap. will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Thursday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
