October 25, 1927 — August 28, 2001

VIRGINIA "Ginny" SCHMIDT 73, 2343 Rainbow Dr., Mosinee died Tuesday, August 28, 2001 under the care of Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. Virginia was born October 25, 1927 in Mosinee, daughter of the late Tom and Josephine (Huber) Thompson. Virginia met Ray Schmidt at the Rothschild Pavilion Roller Rink in the summer of 1943 when she was 15 years old. Shortly after meeting Ray, he had to go to war. Virginia left school and went to Chicago seeking employment. Virginia and Ray met up in Wausau again about 1A½ years later. She was a homemaker whose main focus was raising her children. After all 4 children had left home to seek their own dreams, Virginia joined her husband at Rayburn Lighting which they owned for 36 years. She became the purchasing agent for lighting fixtures and seemed to know just what their customers were looking for. "Ginny's" interests included art (mostly birds and waterfowl paintings), spending time with family, swimming and relaxing at their cottage up north, and going to lunch with her friends. Surviving besides her husband, Ray; include 2 daughters, Barbara (Tom) Kester, Wausau and Linda (Doug) Trembath, Mexico, Missouri; 2 sons, Terry (Kathy) Schmidt, Rhinelander and Timothy Schmidt, Schofield; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Harold (Alice) Thompson, Mosinee and Earl (Mae) Thompson, Wausau. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Esther Jester, Adeline Freuen and Margie Starmack.
