Virginia M Callies

Virginia M. Callies 76, town of Wien, died Thursday, November 11, 2004 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born April 5, 1928 in the town of Hull, daughter of the late Fred and Hildur (Larson) Strathman. On August 7, 1954, she married Murray Callies in Colby. He survives. Virginia was a switchboard operator until her marriage, and then raised seven daughters on the family farm in the town of Wien. She enjoyed bowling and reading, but her real passion was spending time with her grandchildren. Besides her husband, Murray, town of Wien, survivors include seven daughters; Nadine Callies, town of Wien, Helen (Darrel) Kempf and Susan (Tommy) Davis, all of Graham, Wash., Kathleen (James) Dalessandro, San Rafael, Calif., Carrie Callies, town of Wien, Angela (Steve) Jacobs, New Berlin and Peggy (Perry) Martyn, Athens; nine grandchildren; one brother, Eugene (Mernajean) Strathman, Abbotsford. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Joseph Davis and one brother, Gerald Strathman. The funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2004 at St. John Lutheran Church, High Steeple, town of Wien. Rev. Matthew Christians will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar and again from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
