Violet M. Kohnhorst

Violet M. Kohnhorst 92, 500 Grand Ave., Wausau died Saturday, October 20, 2001under the care of Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. Violet was born August 14, 1909 in Colby, daughter of the late Michael & Rosa (Kick) Bast. On May 3, 1928, she married Arthur Kohnhorst in Stratford. He preceded her in death on January 25, 1976. Violet and Arthur, managed the former Miller Hotel in Wausau. She was also employed at the Marathon County Department of Social Services for several years. Violet was an avid bingo player and enjoyed playing cards. She was a member of the Women's Home League. Survivors include one daughter, Verna Narlock, Wausau; 2 sons, Hubert (Eloda) Kohnhorst, Wausau and Jerome Kohnhorst, Geneva, Alabama; 15 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; many great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, Violet was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Betty; 1 grandson; 1 great great grandson; 7 sisters and 2 brothers. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2001 at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Violet's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services at the church. There will be a 7:00 p.m. rosary service on Monday at the 6th St., funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. The family would like to take this opportunity to express their sincere appreciation to the volunteers and staff of Comfort Care and Hospice Services for the outstanding care and concern extended to Violet during her time with them.
