Violegene "Gene" Cecelia Parlier
79, Wausau, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Marywood Convalescent Center, Wausau, where she was very well cared for.
She was born March 7, 1926 in Mosinee, daughter of the late Joseph and Cecelia (Skrypchak) Lepak. Raised on a dairy farm in the town of Cassel, she went to Sacred Heart Catholic Grade School and Edgar High School. Gene met the love of her life, Charles Rex Parlier at a dance in the Rothschild Pavilion on a summer night in 1946, where they danced until midnight. They were married at St. John Catholic Church in Edgar October 16, 1948. Their courtship and marriage was filled with dancing the jitterbug, waltz and polkas through happy and turbulent times.
Early in their marriage, Violegene quit work at Employers Mutual to raise nine children. She loved to bake cinnamon or caramel rolls, cookies, cakes and pies. Gene enjoyed gardening to provide some fresh vegetables for the family. Singing was a very important happening for the family and Gene could always be counted on to remember the lyrics to the many songs that were sung. Violegene attended bible study groups and participated in a small group faith sharing at St. Anne, where she made new friendships and deepened her relationship with God. Violegene and Chuck's nine children all grew to be kind, loving citizens and are all very appreciative of all the endless sacrifices she made for each and every one of them. The family is very thankful for the loving care that the staff at Marywood Convalenscent Center had provided for Violegene during the past two years.
