Viola M. Vogt
84, Wausau, died Friday September 5, 2008 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born September 7, 1923, in the town of Chelsey, daughter of the late Otto and Sophie (Steiner) Lechner. On July 14, 1942, she married Robert Vogt in Houston, Texas. He preceded her in death February 2005.
Prior to her retirement in 1984, Viola had been employed as a special education teacher at John Muir Middle School. Among her favorite things to do were reading, needlework, gardening and baking.
Survivors include seven children, Barbara Vogt, Wausau, Patricia (William) Casey, Madison, Thomas (Paula) Vogt, Margaret (Tim) Opper, all of Wausau, Daniel (Leann) Vogt, Bend, Ore., Rebecca (Oriol) Perez, Tampa, Fla., Laurie (Steve) Pirtle, Cambridge, 13 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one sister, Lauretta White, Salem, Ore.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert and Edward Lechner and four sisters, Frances Shewczyk, Marie Allmann, Eleanor Frischman and Gertrude Gassner.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at Noon Weds. September 10, 2008 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Weds. From 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
