Viola Clara Stahel

Viola C. Stahel 95, Wausau, died Wednesday August 6, 2003 at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau. She was born March 11, 1908, daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Henrichs) Langhoff. On October 30, 1925, she married Reinhart Stahel at Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Stettin. He preceded her in death on February 26, 1966. Viola was a homemaker and until her husband's death they farmed in the town of Stettin. She loved growing flowers, crocheting, embroidering, and knitting things for her grand and great grandchildren. She loved game shows, solving crossword puzzles and playing bingo. Survivors include four daughters, Esther Mohr, Marathon, Leona (Ray) Teske, Wausau, Verna (Walter) Baneck, Wausau, Lois (Gary) Hermans, Marathon; three sons, Norman (Jeanette) Stahel, Wausau, Merlin (Jean) Stahel, Marathon, and Melvin (Clair) Stahel, Marathon; 37 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren; a sister Ann Kort, Wausau; one brother, Walter (Ruth) Langhoff, Wausau. Besides her husband, Reinhart, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Lydia Werner & Selma Evers; a grandchild, Jeanette Baneck; a great grandchild, Gabriel Dewey; her sisters, Helen Ringwelski, Hilda Zahn, Melba Wendt, and brothers Gilbert, George, Elmer, Gordon, Louis and Alfred Langhoff. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2003 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stettin. The Rev. Clarence Gall will officiate. Burial will be in the Stettin Christian Cemetery, town of Stettin. Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a 4:00 p.m. scripture service Sunday evening at the Stewart Ave. funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Colonial Manor Medical & Rehabilitation Center, Wausau, Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Stettin or the Shriners Foundation. The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers Viola had at Colonial Manor Medical & Rehabilitation Center. She always called them her special angels.
