Vilas E. King

Vilas E. King 70, Weston, died Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital, Meridian, Idaho. He was born June 15, 1936. Son of the late Stanley and Matilda (Jozwiak) King. On April 12, 1958, he married June Meverden in Birnamwood. She preceded him in death on November 16, 2004. Vilas proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. For 36 years, he worked as a boiler operator for Weyerhaeuser Corp., until his retirement. Among his many interests, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, tying "poppers" for fly-fishing, traveling- especially to Boise, Idaho to hunt and fish and spending time with his family at his cottage at Pelican Lake. Survivors include, eight children, Valerie Schmelzer, Schofield, Nathan King, Schofield, Mark King, Lake du Bay, Kevin King, Schofield, Jeffrey (JaMee) King, Kuna, Idaho, Andrew King, Meridian, Idaho, Linda (Warren) Kahle, Woodbury, Minn. and Craig (Amy) King, Nampa, Idaho; eight grandchildren, Katie and Bill Schmelzer, Heather Equals, Eric and Nick Kahle, Dante', Faith and Baylee King; three great grandchildren, Hunter, Paige and Gavin Equals; one sister-in-law, Carol (Jim) Brounacker, Hatley; and many brothers and sisters-n-law, nieces and nephews further survive. Besides his parents and wife, June, he was preceded in death by one brother, Clifford King. The funeral mass will be celebrated 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild. Rev. Janusz Kowalski will preside. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter. Friends may call Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
