Vernon Julius Huehnerfuss

Vernon J. Huehnerfuss 79, 610 Hud Street, Somerset, Wisconsin, a former Wausau resident, died Saturday November 23, 2002 at Lakeview Hospital, Stillwater, Minnesota. He was born December 4, 1922 in the town of Stettin, son of the late Julius and Frances (Runke) Huehnerfuss. On August 9, 1947 he married Florence Bliese at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau. She preceded him in death on March 20, 1981. Vernon spent 35 years in government service with the Veteran's Administration and the Postal Service. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau, appreciated the time spent with his family, enjoyed sports and supported his grandchildren through their high school sports involvement.He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army as a staff sargent in the Pacific Theatre. Survivors include a son, Clark (Toni) Huehnerfuss, Houston, Texas, a daughter, Sandra (Brad) Nemec, Somerset, two grandchildren, Amy and Scott Nemec, three sisters, LaVine Larson, Merrill, Geraldine McKeithen and Vergene Wunsch, both of Wausau. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 30, 2002 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau Rev. Dennis Pegorsch will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Ave., Wausau and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established. 'So we came here to celebrate his life, mourn his death and know he rests today in a far better place.'
