Verna L. Prihoda
91, Medford, died Thursday, November 29, 2007 at Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center, Medford.
She was born April 30, 1916 in the town of Hamburg, daughter of the late William and Bertha (Haehlke) Voigt. On September 24, 1949 she married Charles Prihoda in Marathon. He preceded her in death on November 28, 1980.
In 1937, Verna's parents bought Rib River Ballroom and she assisted in the operation of the business. In 1955 Verna and her husband took over ownership of the ballroom and later added the kitchen. Verna had many fond memories of the bands which played as well as over 3, 000 couples who celebrated their weddings at the ballroom. After she retired in 1980, she enjoyed bowling in the ladies bowling league, watching Brewers baseball, listening to polka music and especially spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her son, Chuck (Julie) Prihoda, Medford; grandchildren, Patty, Katie, Steven and Michael Prihoda, all of Medford and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Charles, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mathilda Krohn and Norma Ziegel and one brother, Ray Voigt.
